History
Mercer Court, originally a medical school and hospital, was founded by Mary Mercer in 1734. The board of governors invited Handel to visit Dublin in 1741 to raise funds for the hospital and as a result the first performance of Handel's Messiah took place on April 13th 1742 in St Patrick's Cathedral Dublin.Car Parking is available in the Royal College of Surgeons secure car park. Car Parking is free overnight from 6pm and a highly reduced rate of €7 per day from 11am - 6pm. Tickets must be validated at reception to avail of this special rate.
