- What's the difference between Mercer Court and Millin House?
Mercer Court is an apartment style complex. Each apartment has four occupants and is comprised of either a twin room and two single rooms or four single rooms. All the rooms are en-suite. The four occupants of the apartment share a kitchen and living area. Millin House is a hall of residence style accommodation. It is comprised of five floors, each containing five single rooms and a twin room. Each single room has a double bed and all rooms are en-suite. There is a small tea/coffee station on each floor and a large kitchen and common area downstairs for the use of Millin House residents.
- What exactly is a twin room?
A twin room is a large room with two single beds, which is shared by two students, and contain En-Suite bathrooms.
- What facilities are provided in each complex?
All rooms in Mercer Court are En-Suite with their own phones and voicemail answering service. Each apartment, kitchen and living room is fully equipped to the highest standards. - How do I apply for accommodation in Mercer Court?
We have a comprehensive on line application system. Simply submit an online application, and you will receive a response informing you of whether there are any rooms available or not. If there are, you will then be required to submit full payment to Mercer Apartments Management Company in order to secure your accommodation.
- Between what dates can I submit my application?
Applications for the year 2010/2011 are currently open. We will accept e-applications all year round, and will keep them on our waiting lists until April when we will respond back to you with further information. Remember to get your application in soon, as spaces are limited!!
- How do I pay for my accommodation?
Payment for the accommodation can be made by bank transfer to the below details:

Alternatively, payment can be made by bank draft, in Euro only, made out to the Mercer Apartments Management Company Limited. Remember, full payment must be received in order to guarantee your place in Mercer Court. - If all of the rooms are booked, what are the chances that one will become available?
It is impossible to know the likelihood of a room becoming available once they are all fully booked. We are happy to keep you in our waiting list and we will get in touch with you as soon as any rooms are free.
- Is electricity included in the room rate?
A standard electricity charge for the entire year is included in the years rent. (€ 600 Mercer Court, € 750 Millin House) A statement of usage will be issued at the end of each term. If, at the end of the academic year, more than € 600 Mercer Court, € 700 Millin House, has been used, the student then pays the balance. If less is used the difference will be refunded.
- How are roommates allocated?
If you have a friend you wish to share with, Mercer Court has no problem in accommodating you together as long as this wish is clearly expressed in writing by both parties at the time of application. If you have any particular requests for your room, help us help you and get them in to us early. We do our utmost to meet any of your requests, based on a first come first served basis. Without requests we generally try to allocate students by gender and nationality.
- How far is Mercer Court / Millin House from RCSI exactly?
For those of you who are unable to visit the complex prior to your arrival, Mercer Court and Millin House are literally two minutes walk from the Royal College of Surgeons and the Mercer library is adjacent to the complex.
- Can I block book accommodation for my entire time at RCSI?
No - applications must be made independently each year.
- Do I have to leave at Christmas?
No - The room is exclusively yours during the lease period.
- Can I leave some personal belongings in storage at Mercer Court/Millin House over the summer if I have booked my accommodation for the following year?
Unfortunately Mercer Court/Millin House has limited storage space and personal belongings cannot be stored outside of the lease period.
- What happens if I apply and pay for accommodation and fail to be offered a place at RCSI?
In the case where a student pays in full and fails to be offered a place in RCSI, all monies will be refunded in full.
- If I am a government-sponsored student can a financial affidavit be held as a guarantee for my room?
No, payment must be made in full by all students to confirm a room. Invoices can be provided after the payment to receive a refund from the sponsor.
- What is the delivery address for Mercer Court and I have personal items delivered before my arrival?
The delivery address is Mercer Court, Lower Mercer Street, Dublin 2, Ireland. No, personal items cannot be delivered before your arrival as space in Mercer Court is limited.
- How will my friends and family reach me during the year?

Yes, all students will be responsible for paying for their electricity based on their own use of lights and heating etc. Meter readings will be taken at the end of each term and it will be based on these that the electricity fee will be deducted from the deposit paid at the beginning of the year.
- What if I share my apartment with other students?
In this case, the bills will be divided equally between all residents of the apartment. It will be up to the residents themselves, to ensure that the amount of electricity used does not exceed their expectations.
- Will I have access to the Internet from my room?
Internet access is enabled in each of the rooms by the college from the beginning of term.
- Is there a laundry service or laundry facilities in Mercer Court?
There is a pay by use laundry service available for all students living in Mercer Court. As a self-service accommodation, students look after their own laundry.
- If all of the rooms are booked, what are the chances that one will become available?
